Inbetweeners USA 'won't be watered down' insists creators

After a trailer for the American version of hit teenage comedy 'The Inbetweeners' hit Youtube, the video was greeted with a tirade of abuse and complaints claiming that the version looked less 'edgy', and was missing most of the elements that made the show what it was.

Well the producer of the new version has hit out at these claims, insisting that the US version will NOT be watered down for American audiences. He even goes as far as to say the series will be both 'offensive' and 'sweet' like the orginal. His words not ours.

Speaking at a TCA press tour:

"Like anything else, it's a challenge and that's one of the things that... MTV loved about the original as well, in spite of how offensive it could be, it was incredibly sweet. We made up a lot of original words that we can get past standards. And... the fact is when you take these four boys and put them in dating situations and situations that involve being irresponsible, you'll find that they can be just as offensive as any kid across the world."

Back in June, we gave our take on the US series, and we have to admit these new comments don't do much to rally our concerns.

EA to put itself up for sale?

It seems Electronic Arts, know for snapping up lesser gaming companies, may be putting itself on the chopping block. The New York Post is reporting that EA may be looking into making such a deal, with several private equity firms, including KKR and Providence Equity Partners, interested.

Apparently EA would be willing to sell the company at a value of $20 per share, substantially more than the $13 per share the company is currently going for. The move would be interesting, considering many investors such as Michael Patcher are predicting the company's stock will double by next year.

However E3 is not the only company to consider a sale, as video game sales have slumped in recent years.

Would you be sad to see E3 go for sale?

Twitter announces draconian new API changes

Fans of alternative Twitter clients may be annoyed to hear the latest announcement from the blue bird company. Twitter is implementing some stringent new restrictions on those creating Twitter apps.

Basically Twitter does not want to developers to create apps which 'mimic or reproduce' the functionality of Twitter's own website or mobile apps. Speaking on the company's official blog, they specifically called out popular Twitter client Tweetbot.

... includes, of course, "traditional" Twitter clients like Tweetbot and Echofon. Nearly eighteen months ago, we gave developers guidance that they should not build client apps that mimic or reproduce the mainstream Twitter consumer client experience." And to reiterate what I wrote in my last post, that guidance continues to apply today.

The 'guidlines', which come into effect from today, limit the amount of uses that a particular client can have. Essentially, any given app can now only have 200% the amount of users that it has today. This means that Tweetbot, Seesmic and countless others now have a cap on user numbers.

Are you annoyed at Twitter's new restrictions?

UPDATE: Tweetbot creators have spoken out to say the 'sky is not falling' and while the cap is annoying, the app has plenty of room to breathe going forward.

Blip: Martin Kemp early CBB favourite

The new series of Celebrity Big Brother only kicked off last night on Channel 5, but already it seems like viewers are being wooed by one of the shows charming housemates: soap star Martin Kemp.

After just one night in the house, Martin has risen to being the bookies favourite to win, with short odds. Kemp is best know for playing villain Steve Owen in Eastenders.

Who are you supporting from this years lineup?

Are you a Martin fan?

Is this the best proposal ever? [VIDEO]

David Pogue, New York Times tech writer, has once again proven what a gadgetry-badass he is while simultaneously raising the bar for anyone's future proposals. Good luck guys.

About to get married for the second time, Pogue couldn't just simply ask his girlfriend Nicki to marry him. No, he created an entire fake movie trailer telling the story of the couples love AND THEN convinced the holiday movie theatre to run the clip before the movie they were about to watch.

The best part? He recorded the reaction.

Watch the video here and decide if you think it is the best proposal ever.

Good luck to David and Nicki!

New Pokemon game comes with Apple style keyboard

Nintendo better have good lawyers. The new Pokemon game for iOS, 'Pokemon: Typing Adventure', comes bundled with a rather fetching white plastic keyboard, used to interact with the game. It looks rather nice. Problem is, it kind of reminds us of another rather nice wireless keyboard.

Ah yes.
Although to be fair, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and it's not like Apple and Ninty will be competing on the battleground anytime soon. The company has always maintained that it is not interested in mobile games, despite the fact that iOS and Android are rather quickly eating up mobile gaming sales.

As for the game itself, 'educational' game puts players' typing skills to the test as they record details of more than 400 Pokemon using the peripheral. It basically sounds like a Pokemon version of Typing Of The Dead. The keyboard is also compatible with any Bluetooth device, so if you want it could be your next Mac's best friend.

Learn With Pokemon: Typing Adventure is released for DS and 3DS on September 21.
